Human teeth in soda!

One of my favorite websites recently conducted an experiment to show a few soda lovers what their favorite drinks are actually doing to their teeth.  Buzzfeed decided to soak human teeth in soda to see the effects!  Click on the article title below to see the results of Buzzfeed’s experiment!  Be warned…you may not drink soda after seeing this!

Put the Can Down.  Wait Until You See Human Teeth After 5 Days In Soda

As you can see from the results of the experiment, sodas are quite detrimental to your teeth.   If you can’t give them up, make sure you drink them all at once followed by water.  Don’t sip on them all day long because the prolonged exposure to your teeth can cause even more damage.

Do you brush your tongue?

Did you know that your tongue can house thousands of bacteria? In order to keep your mouth as clean as possible, you should be cleaning your tongue as a part of your daily oral hygiene regimen!

How to clean your tongue:
1. Stick out your tongue
2. Using your toothbrush or a tongue scraper, place the instrument toward the back of your tongue
3. Using gentle pressure, pull your brush or scraper forward toward the tip of your tongue.
4. Repeat several times
5. Rinse your toothbrush or scraper under warm water

Cleaning your tongue can be beneficial in removing bacteria and in preventing bad breath. Be careful not to press too hard or you can irritate your taste buds.

We hope you add cleaning your tongue to your daily regimen!

September Patient of the Month!

This year we teamed up with French Express Coffee House to honor one excellent patient of the month with a gift card for a drink to Kannapolis’ Best Coffee Shop.   We have been posting these every month on our facebook page but wanted to share on our website what our patient of the month is all about!

Each month we select one patient to honor as our “Patient of the Month” based on a few criteria.  Our patient of the month exemplifies one or more of the following:

  1. Excellent Home Oral Hygiene creating a beautiful and healthy smile.
  2. Significant improvement in your oral health thanks to improved oral hygiene or stopping poor habits such as smoking or eating candy.
  3. Maintains their scheduled appointments and arrives on-time.
  4. Introduces new patients to our office by referring their friends, family or coworkers.
  5. Gives back to our local community to make an impact!

This month we want to congratulate our September Patient of the Month….Steve!!
